FUNNY COUPLE COSTUMES
What's for breakfast dear?
Here are some great ideas for a funny couples costume for Halloween. Of course, your definition of "funny" might be different from some others'. Many of the ideas here are clean and appropriate for all crowds, some however might not be appropriate depending on the party you will be attending. As with all couples ideas, many lead to odd or sexual natured themes. I've stayed away from the more racy items, I'm sure if that's what your looking for you can find it easily enough. This page is more about being creative. Anyone can be Fred and Wilma Flintstone, I've tried to find some creative and unique ideas that will set you apart from the crowd. There are some commercially available sets here for those who do not wish to spend a lot of time and money, but the truly unique are the ones that couples made themselves.
First, for the funny commercially available costumes. Many of the Halloween stores and online costume shops will offer these great funny couple costumes. You have the lock and key, there is a nut and bolt of the same fashion, the plug and outlet, and the bun in the oven with accompanying chef. These are cute and funny but are now pretty much everywhere on the market. For some the novelty might have worn off. I've also seen a washer and dryer couple costume. And in the commercial arena there are always paired outfits for almost every theme, cowboys, pirates, cartoon characters, gangster, hippies, the list goes on and on.
Now for the truly unique funny couple costumes. I found most of these on the internet and truly thought they were great. The couples were creative and unique, even though some might call a few of these tasteless, to each his own.
Congratulations to the new mom! She has given birth to a full grown man head that smokes and wears glasses. Too funny! I've seen several versions of this one and they always give me a giggle. While I enjoy the costume, I have to wonder if either of these two will be speaking by the end of the party? It has to be very uncomfortable to stay attached to the table for any length of time. At least the women gets to pretty much stand behind the contraption, while the poor guys look to be on their knees most of the evening. Maybe it's their punishment for something? Instead of sleeping on the couch they are made to wear the baby head and stay on their knees. Interesting.

Great idea! Now all they need to do is line up the picture properly and they are all set. This couple costume doesn't require a lot of prep, just finding the right picture or poster and adding the frame, then cutting out the face hole and attaching it to your head so that it's comfortable. You might have some issues going to the restroom but otherwise it should be a fairly comfortable outfit for both parties.

This couple definitely has a sense of humor! I wonder how long it took her to convince him to dress like a huge box of tampons? What a great idea. Again, depending on the crowd you will be in, this could be the hit of the party or the end of your associations. It shouldn't be too difficult to make and of course you could put your own spin on the idea. It looks like they made the tampons from some pillow batting and construction paper. Just take a quick look through the art section of your local craft store and you should be able to make the box in about an hour. Making it comfortable will be the trick. You don't want it to be too heavy and you'll need some padding inside the headpiece, not so much that your partner can't hear, but enough to keep the sides from rubbing.

Now this couple takes my prize for creativity and originality. Wow! Her costume really took some time and effort. Each protruding arm is holding a different item, a lantern, a severed head, etc. While it looks really cool, it means the arms had to be made of something stiff and strong enough to hold the items without drooping over time. I'd love to see the back of the costume just to see how the arms are attached. I'm assuming they are wired onto the back of the blue body suit. It looks like the headdress was purchased, but if she made that as well, great job. I just love the little shrunken heads and severed arm "belt". Great imagination and creativity! Wish I had thought of this one.
So as you can see, depending on your talents and the time and effort you want to put in, you can really make some great funny couple costumes this Halloween. But I suggest you start early if you are taking on a large project.
