Princess Leia slave costume

Princess Leia was a character in the Star Wars movies, Princess Leia was played by the actress Carrie Fisher.  Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released in 1977, and was the first movie that Princess Leia was in, she was captured by Darth Vader when she was on the ship Tantive IV.  After being freed by Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, she gives them the Alderaanian Medal of Freedom for them freeing her. 

It takes till the third movie Return of the Jedi that she gets captured by Jabba the Hutt, she was trying to help the others to get Han Solo from Jabba.  Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, and was a very, very popular Star Wars movie.  Jabba finds out who she is and makes her his slave, that is where everyone gets to see the now popular metal bikini that people wear for Halloween to this day.
